To meet the needs of a rapidly growing student population, Carroll High School embarked on a multi-phase expansion designed to accommodate 500 additional students. BCV guided school leadership through a collaborative planning process to identify and prioritize the spaces most essential to the school’s long-term goals. When complete, the project will have added 27 classrooms, including specialized spaces for science, applied skills, digital design, business, and CTE, as well as new general classrooms and support areas.

The first phase of construction—now complete—focused on some of the most high-impact areas: new applied skills rooms, science and digital design classrooms, corridor restrooms, a state-of-the-art weight room addition, a new media center addition, and updates and expansion of the cafeteria. These updates have already transformed daily student life, creating a vibrant new hub for learning, wellness, and collaboration.

Because Carroll’s campus is large and highly active, determining how and where to expand while keeping the building fully operational was a central challenge. Each department had distinct needs, leading to extensive coordination and detailed design conversations throughout the process. Construction was carefully phased to ensure seamless transitions and minimize disruptions for staff and students.

Functionality and integration guided every design decision. The additions blend naturally with the existing architecture while introducing standout moments—like the media center, weight room, and open corridor restrooms—that elevate both the look and feel of the school. Even with future phases ahead, the completed spaces have already reenergized the campus and strengthened Carroll High School’s capacity to support its growing student body.
