Constructed in 1992, South Elementary School remained largely untouched until this recent transformation. Driven by rapid community growth and a consistent influx of new students, the facility required a classroom addition and a comprehensive building renovation and reorganization to modernize the learning environment. This project addressed the entire campus, including a full renovation of the building’s exterior envelope and the development of new parking lots and drives to improve site safety and accessibility.

A primary hurdle during the project involved the expansion of the existing gymnasium, which required significant structural work on the building’s south side. As with many active campus projects, maintaining safety and meeting educational goals while students and staff occupied the facility was a key priority. This necessitated a strategic design and a meticulous phased construction approach to ensure that the renovation progressed without disrupting the daily school schedule.

The completed project provides South Elementary School with a new secure entry and updated administrative office space. The expansion added 13 classrooms, an enlarged gymnasium, a new staff lounge, and essential supporting spaces such as restrooms and small-group instruction rooms. Every existing area within the building—including the media center, art and music rooms, cafeteria, and kitchen—was fully renovated. To enhance long-term performance and security, the building also received new exterior windows and doors, resulting in a revitalized facility that is fully equipped to support the growing student population.
