East Allen County Schools transformed the former Meadowbrook Elementary into a centralized Career Center and Alternative Education Center, creating a district-wide hub for hands-on career training. The updated facility supports nine career pathways—entrepreneurship, healthcare, pharmacy, manufacturing, technology, construction trades, criminal justice, and education—each designed to prepare students for in-demand jobs across Northeast Indiana.

Converting an elementary school into a functional CTE facility came with challenges, including the original layout of many small, individual restrooms that limited classroom size and usability. The design team reconfigured the building by replacing these with strategically located group restrooms, opening up classrooms for flexible instructional and lab spaces. Sets of three former elementary classrooms were combined to create larger, more functional learning environments that support shared laboratories and specialized equipment needs.

Working closely with industry partners and higher education institutions, BCV tailored each program area to meet real workforce standards. All programs offer opportunities for industry certifications and dual college credits, ensuring students are prepared to step directly into high-skill, high-demand careers.
