  • Relocated Field Events

NorthWood High School has further enhanced its athletic department with the addition of another world-class showpiece to its campus. This upgrade features a striking two-toned, nine-lane polyurethane track surface built over a long-lasting, post-tensioned concrete base. The project also included the installation of a new turf field for the Panthers, complemented by a dedicated mini-field designed for the district’s future athletes.

Expanding the track to a nine-lane configuration required a strategic site reorganization, as the field event spaces had to be relocated outside the track’s footprint. This transition was further complicated by poor soil conditions discovered beneath the track, which threatened both the project’s strict deadlines and the established budget. To resolve these issues without the need for costly and time-consuming soil mitigation, the team opted for a post-tensioned concrete solution. This choice not only bypassed the soil challenges but also provided the district with a more durable, long-term foundation.

The resulting facility features a new field events area equipped with two runways, pads, and throwing areas, all connected to the main stadium by a dedicated sidewalk. This layout allows for simultaneous competition across all field events, significantly increasing the venue’s efficiency during large meets. By integrating these high-performance materials and specialized site planning, the upgraded stadium serves as a premier destination for the school’s football and track and field programs.
