BCV worked with Middlebury Community Schools to develop a new outdoor athletic complex, uniting football, track and field, baseball, and soccer into a single, cohesive venue. The project includes shared support facilities and spectator parking, consolidating multiple athletic programs that had previously been scattered across campus.

The site presented unique challenges as a former quarry with dramatically varying soil conditions, requiring extensive geotechnical analysis and careful civil design to plan construction and bidding strategies. Coordination of access, security, and spectator flow for multiple athletic events also influenced building layout and the positioning of amenities.

The resulting complex provides a functional and visually appealing venue for athletes and spectators alike. Thoughtful design decisions—from optimal field orientation to maintain safety to small details like fence post placement for ease of maintenance—have drawn attention from other districts seeking to replicate Northridge’s successful approach.
